In Solidarity

As a collective of artists and curators, Transmitter is committed to promoting racial and social justice in whatever capacity we can. Over the years, we have pledged our commitment to a better future for all, and we will continue to reiterate that commitment and sustain our actions.

The air is heavy when we see more wrongs than rights, but in these moments, it’s vital we find the willpower to stand together for change, every single day: Stand for humanity, justice, and freedom. Stand for your immigrant neighbors, colleagues, friends, and family. Be witness and steer towards action.

“The practice of love is the most powerful antidote to the politics of domination.”  –bell hooks

Our statement to ceasefire captured so much that is relevant today:

We are faced with yet another example of humans being radicalized out of fear and anger, inflicting terror and violence onto others. The pain being felt by families and communities suffering in Palestine and Israel is palpable for us all. The ongoing ethnic cleansing across Palestine and the genocide in Gaza are unfolding before the eyes of the world, and we are unable to remain silent. We know that a ceasefire is not enough; we also demand justice, freedom, and an equitable future for all. Simultaneously, we must emphasize the importance of separating a people from its government and stand against anti-semitism and islamophobia in any form.

Feeling enraged and scared is an understandable response to what we’re witnessing, but what if that powerful energy is funneled towards the betterment of future communities and not focused on the demise of ‘the other’? We hope that our communities, cities, and countries dig deep to find the empathy necessary to listen to the voices sharing pain and outrage, regardless of whether it matches their own. Find ways to support the countless families and communities directly affected by this terror and loss of life. Take time to listen, read, and expand your imagination for what a human-centered existence can look like. Demand a ceasefire; it is the bare minimum.

As U.S. taxpayers, we have a duty and moral obligation to inform ourselves and to do whatever we can collectively to put an end to this unwavering political and military support. Call your representatives and urge them to stop supporting genocide and ethnic cleansing; it is more crucial now than ever. Choose to honor the lives not only of your children but of children from families that don’t hold the same belief systems or cultural histories. It takes an uncomfortable amount of energy to process the onslaught of atrocities we are living with globally, but we encourage each other, as a group, and all of the people in our lives to keep demanding more justice, liberation, and less tragedy than our current moment.
